From In the Track of the Sun

Bloom directly references In the Track of the Sun during "Calypso."  Apparently, Bloom had a copy of the travelogue in his personal library.  His narrative style during his vision on the way to Dlugacz's butcher shop shares similarities with the travel writing in In the Track of the Sun.  However, Bloom quickly becomes conscious that he vision of the east is a false one, constructed based on authors such as Thompson and Coleridge.  The ad for the Model farm at Kinnereth also shares travel writing language and depictions, by making the land in Palestine seem more arable and desirable for colonization.
